Bench-top PH Meter
Bench-top PH Meter pH meter is a laboratory instrument used to measure the acidity or alkalinity (pH level) of liquid samples. It is called a “benchtop” because it is designed to be used on a laboratory bench or stable surface, as opposed to portable pH meters, which are handheld and more suitable for field applications.
- pH Measurement: The primary function of a pH meter is to accurately measure, the pH level of a solution. pH is a measure of the hydrogen ion concentration in a liquid and ranges from. 0 to 14, where 7 is neutral, values below 7 are acidic, and values above 7 are alkaline.
- Calibration: pH meters require calibration to ensure accurate measurements. Most bench-top pH meters offer automatic calibration using standard buffer solutions of known pH values (usually pH 4.01, 7.00, and 10.01). Some advanced models may allow for manual calibration as well.
- Electrode: The pH meter employs, a specialized pH electrode or probe to sense the hydrogen ion activity in the sample. The electrode is typically made of glass and contains an internal reference electrode.
- Temperature Compensation: pH measurements can be influenced by temperature, so bench-top pH meters often come with automatic temperature compensation (ATC) to adjust for temperature variations.
- Readout Display: The pH meter features a digital display that shows the measured pH value. Some models may have additional features like data logging and graphical representation of measurements.
- Connectivity: Advanced bench-top pH meters may have connectivity options like USB or Bluetooth to transfer data to a computer or other devices for further analysis and data storage.
- Accuracy and Precision: Benchtop pH meters are designed for high accuracy and precision in pH measurements, making them suitable for scientific research, quality control, and other laboratory applications.
Different manufacturers offer various models with varying features, so it's essential to choose a bench-top pH meter that fits your specific needs and budget while maintaining the required level of accuracy and precision for your experiments or analyses.
