SUJA Corn Sheller
SUJA corn sheller, maize sheller or corn thresher, is a machine used to remove the kernels of corn (maize) from the cob. It simplifies the process of separating the edible corn grains from the husks and cob, making it more efficient and less labor-intensive compared to manual shelling methods.
- Hopper: The hopper is the opening at the top of the corn sheller where the corn cobs are loaded for processing.
- Rotating Cylinder: Inside the machine, there is a rotating cylinder or drum with ridges or spikes that rub against the corn cobs, causing the kernels to separate from the cob.
- Conveying System: The machine is equipped with a conveying system that guides the separated kernels away from the cob and husks.
- Separation Chamber: The separated kernels and cobs are directed to different chambers for easy collection and disposal.
- Power Source: Corn shellers can be operated manually, using hand-cranking or foot-pedaling, or powered by electricity, gasoline engines, or tractor PTO (power take-off).
Corn shellers are available in different sizes and capacities, from small, hand-operated models suitable for small-scale farming or home use to large, motorized machines designed for commercial agriculture.
- Load Corn Cobs: Place the corn cobs into the hopper of the corn sheller.
- Activation: Start the machine using the appropriate power source, whether manual or motorized.
- Shelling Process: The rotating cylinder or drum inside the machine rubs against the corn cobs, causing the kernels to be separated from the cob.
- Collect Kernels: The separated kernels fall through the openings, while the cobs and husks are discharged to a separate area for disposal.
Corn shellers are essential tools for farmers and agricultural workers, as they save time and effort in the process of shelling corn. They are particularly useful during the harvest season when large quantities of corn need to be processed quickly.
Corn kernels obtained through the shelling process can be used for various purposes, such as animal feed, human consumption, and industrial processing for products like cornmeal and corn-based foods.
